Iron-doped nanoflakes of layered double hydroxide of nickel for high-performance hybrid zinc batteries

Hybrid Zn–air and Zn–M (M represents transition metal oxide/hydroxide) batteries combined at the cell level take advantages of high-capacity high voltage. However, performance a Zn–air/M battery relies on finding dual-functional cathode material, which can effectively serve both battery's chemistries. Here, we demonstrate superior hybrid based Fe-doped Ni double hydroxide nanoflakes activated carbon material. Fe doping transforms disordered crystal structure to stable hydrotalcite-type with significantly enhanced redox conversion capacity, improved electric conductivity, oxygen evolution reaction activity. Therefore, exhibits total energy density, unprecedented efficiency (87% 4 mA/cm2), power density (100 mW/cm2 60 mA/cm2) that outperform reported other materials. Moreover, Zn–air/Ni1−xFex–layered is featured capability high-rate charging owing rapid kinetics reactions excellent catalytic activity
